Few visitors are lucky enough to experience the opportunities Upcountry Maui has to offer and Hale O Keanalu is located in the heart of it all, yet far from the crowds. The following are some of our favorite Upcountry Maui activities:

1.) Ho’okipa Beach Park - This is a must see spot to watch world-class pros surf and windsurf some of the most beautiful waves in the world. 

2.) Haleakala Crater – Walk on the world’s largest crater in the world! The setting will astound you, with its multitude of colors and changing landscapes. Drive up to the top (10,023 feet) and watch a magnificent sunrise, hike the well-marked trails and see unique plants and animals that are exclusive to this area.

3.) Bike Down the Volcano - Begin your day with a sunrise at the very top of Haleakala Crater and then descend the 10,023 feet on a bike with a guided tour or on your own.

4.) Baldwin Beach – Suntan, run or stroll along on this long, beautiful white sand beach. Grass Park, bathrooms, lifeguards, BBQ pits and picnic areas provided.

 5.) Baby Beach- At the very end of Baldwin beach and named for its gentle waters, Baby Beach is protected by a long reef, which makes is easy to swim and a favorite for families.

6.) Helicopter Tours – Take the opportunity to hover over the lush valleys and waterfalls, fly through Haleakala Crater and view the beaches from the air. This is an exciting way to the see the island!

 7.) Horseback riding - Enjoy riding through the pastures of Upcountry Maui and the bamboo forests with breathtaking views of the surrounding areas such as Haleakala, West Maui Mountains, the valley into Kahului and of course spectacular ocean views. 

8.) Shop Makawao – Spend the day in the "Paniolo" (cowboy) Town, with its many art galleries, Hawaiian shops, boutiques, cafes, book store, glass blowing and more. Plus a variety of terrific restaurants for lunch and dinner.

9.) Shop Paia Town - Rich in local flavor, this old sugar cane town has a myriad of unique boutiques and a wide range of delicious restaurants some with patio dining.

10.) The Road to Hana - Give yourself lots of time to drive the ‘Famous Road to Hana’ on your own or with a guided van tour. Begin your trip along the breathtaking famous North Shore of Maui; stop at the waterfalls; enjoy the cliffside views; visit arts and craft stands and enjoy local snacks at the food stands along the way. Be sure to walk through "The garden of Eden" at mile marker 11 and stop midway for a picnic and stroll.

11.) Yoga classes – Relax and stretch with experienced instructors at the Studio Maui (15 minutes from Hale O Keanalu), or privately hire one of our recommended instructors to have in the comfort of the House of Bliss.

 11.) Private Massage, Acupuncture or Reflexology - Maui is renowned for its wide range of skilled body healers and massage practitioners. If you enjoy having body work, or want to experience it for the first time, you will want to take advantage of all the talent that is readily available.

 12.) Hang Gliding – If you are adventurous take advantage of the memorable experience of riding tandem, while soaring gracefully over Maui's awe-inspiring coastlines, the gentle slopes and dramatic gulches and valleys of Haleakala.

 13.) Golf - Enjoy gorgeous ocean and valley views at the 18-hole golf course nearby at the Pukalani golf course.
