The House of Bliss is located on a very private, winding country road in gorgeous Upcountry Maui on the North shore of the island. Surrounded by large parcels of ranchland and state forests, the property offers a secluded appeal. The terrain and flora of Haiku can be described as similar to Hana, located on the very far eastern part of the island. However, unlike Hana, it is close to major attractions and towns while still providing the seclusion of a lush tropical environment.
Many Maui "locals" consider Haiku as one of the most beautiful and special places in all of Maui. It is the precipitous weather of Haiku that makes it so lush and abundant in flowers and greenery. It is common for the gentle rains in Haiku to be called "Liquid Sunshine", because the sun shines through the light mist creating multiple rainbows. It is because of this that Hawaii has the reputation of being the land of the rainbows.
Hale o Keanalu is a short 15-minute drive from Makawao Town, 20 minutes to the town of Paia and beautiful Baldwin beach and only 5 minutes to the road that takes you to Hana. Just 12 minutes away is the world famous Ho’okipa beach, celebrated as one of the top ten spots for the best windsurfing and surfing in the world. Maui's major airport (in Kahului) is 30 minutes away.
For all your basic grocery, snack, beer and wine needs, Hanzawa's General Store (a real country store) and 76 gas station is 1 short mile down the lane. Larger grocery stores can be found in Paia, Makawao and Pukalani (a nearby town only 25 minutes away) and a Costco Store is located, by the airport, in Kahului. |
